HOW TO CREATE THE APRON

  • Fold your fabric in half, right sides together, place the apron pattern on the fabric fold.
  • Mark the seams as follows:

– at the top and bottom of the apron, add 4 cm,
– on the sides, 4 cm,
– on the curves, 1.5 cm

  • In the printed linen or cotton, cut by adding a 1 cm seam allowance

– the ties: 2 pieces of 95 x 8 cm
– the adjustable strap (neck strap): 74 x 8 cm
– the pockets: 4 pieces of 12 x 13 cm

  • Fold the strap and the apron ties in half, right sides together.
  • Sew the ties, leave one end open and turn out.
  • For the strap, sew all around, leaving a small opening on one side to turn it out.
  • Topstitch a few millimetres from the edge.
  • Give your pocket the shape you want, here the upper part is sewn slightly diagonally.
  • Place the two parts of the pockets right sides together, sew all around, leaving an opening to turn them out.
  • Notch the corners, turn out and iron.

EMBROIDERY

  • Embroider the bib of your apron.
  • Here, we chose the cupcake design available on the elna available oneXpressive 802 and 808.
  • Choose a decorative stitch that you will sew 5 cm from the hemline.
  • For this step you require embroidery thread and the satin stitch foot F.
  • Here, we use the satin stitch n°1, 7 mm wide.

SEWING

  • On the two rounded sides of the apron, make a double hem, 1 cm finished.
  • Stitch right on the edge.
  • Prepare the bottom and top hems of the apron as follows.
  • Make a first 1 cm hem, iron, then make a second 3 cm hem, iron.
  • Stitch the two hems a few millimetres from the edge.
  • On the sides of the apron, make a double hem, 2 cm finished.
  • Insert the ties inside the hem.
  • Stitch a few millimetres from the edge.
  • Attach the buttonhole foot R on your machine, insert the button at the back.
  • Make a stitch to mark the beginning of your buttonholes; you can also draw a line for direction.
  • Sew the buttonhole stitch n°1 and open the buttonholes.
  • Sew the buttons.
  • Place the pockets on the marks, baste and sew a few millimetres from the edge.

Congratulations, your apron is finished.
